GRAND TILLY TOTAL: 71,327

Seller: Will Shetterly and Emma Bull

Offered: Advanced uncorrected proofs of The Wild Wood by Charles de Lint and Something Rich and Strange by Patricia McKillip. In OK condition, no stains or rips. See picture.

Two of the four Faerielands novels inspired by Brian Froud's art, these advanced copies have been hiding in Will and Emma's barn. We haven't heard much from Will and Emma for the past few days, just occasional high pitched screams from the hayloft. Once in a while a couple more books fly out and land in the grass.

Opening bid: $20

Auction ends at 5 p.m. Pacific Time, December 15th 2011

Seller: Emma Bull and Will Shetterly

Offered: Liavek, autographed by Emma and Will

Condition: Good. It's used. The mark on the front page (see pic) looks like light pencil that could probably be erased with a good eraser.

They wrote in the Bordertown shared universe, and they created the Liavek shared universe. And Will answered the Sphinx's question in the barn to procure this copy of Liavek for you.

Of course, the Sphinx isn't nearly as intimidating when she's telling knock-knock jokes...

Seller: Emma Bull & Will Shetterly

Offered: A set of very good condition paperback copies of The Armless Maiden, edited by Terri Windling, and The Changeling, written by Terri Windling. Will and Emma will gladly autograph their contributions in The Armless Maiden as requested by the winning bidder.

Last night a small gnomelike creature crept out of the barn and laid these two books on the porch, and then scuttled back into the depths of the hayloft with nary a word. Who knows...

The Changeling is part of a series for young readers, called Bullseye Chillers. But Windling's writing style is ageless. The protagonist, Charlie, is a boy, but as Windling writes him, it's easy for any reader to identify with his dilemma and his thoughts and feelings as he works and struggles his way toward the solution. The description and characterization are spare, but compelling. Windling draws each character with just a few words, but they stand firmly and move believably through their world. -- Grey Walker, Green Man Review

Seller: Will Shetterly

Offered: Hardcover first edition copy of Chimera, by Will Shetterly. Author will personalize signature for the winner.

(This is one of the house books. Nobody wanted to make a trip to the barn this morning. At least not until Emma dug out her chain mail and battle-axe. And had a cup of tea or two.)

The ingredients -- wisecracking gumshoe, gorgeous slinky heroine, blood-tingling action, ingenious plot twists -- might be familiar, but Shetterly’s thoughtful, hard-edged remix is a winner. -- Kirkus Reviews

Seller: Will Shetterly and Emma Bull

Offered: Sigh. We've done it now. Will went into the barn again. He managed to come out with an armload of hardcover copies of Year's Best Fantasy and Horror, edited by Terri Windling and Ellen Datlow. Years 4, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13, and they're all in very good shape.

Will, not so much. He also came out with the One Diamond Pinkie Ring of Mordor. Oh, didn't know about that one, did you? Yeah, well, it's not pretty. It doesn't make you go invisible. It's worse. Will's currently in a polyester leisure suit, dancing around the horse corral singing a very bad version of Danke Schoen.

Seller: Will Shetterly

Offered: Hardcover first editions of two novels by Will Shetterly, DOGLAND and THE GOSPEL OF THE KNIFE. Both in excellent condition, will be personalized to the winner by the author.

"Dogland is a fantasy novel that, if they found it shelved in mainstream fiction and picked it up, they'd never suspect they'd read any of that weird genre stuff. The fantasy elements blend in seamles sly, and are sufficiently subtle that the book can be read without acknowledging their presence at all--and a mainstream reader who did notice them would probably call it "magic realism". Nevertheless, some of the most critical events in the story are simply different events, depending on whether you read the fantasy elements as being there or not." -- Elisabeth Carey, NESFA
